Toyota ShareLunker Program: Recognizing Anglers’ Achievements at the Banquet

Last Saturday, the Toyota ShareLunker Program, in collaboration with Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPWD), celebrated the accomplishments of some of Texas’ most dedicated anglers. The event highlighted the importance of the program, which encourages anglers to contribute largemouth bass over 8 pounds to enhance the future of fishing across the state.

At this year’s ShareLunker Banquet, two exceptional anglers were recognized for their outstanding catches during the 2023-2024 season:

  • Daniel Alvarado was honored for catching a 10.36 lb bass
  • Will Shelby followed closely with his impressive 9.88 lb bass

These two anglers stood out among many others, with their catches being the heaviest of the season. As a token of appreciation, they each received replica mounts of their fish, provided by THSBA, along with recognition from TPWD for their contributions to the program.

Impressive Catches from the 2023-2024 Season

The 2023-2024 season was filled with impressive entries, with anglers collectively weighing in:

  • 13 fish over 8 pounds
  • 6 fish over 9 pounds
  • 1 fish over 10 pounds

These incredible catches not only reflect the dedication of the anglers but also emphasize the importance of the Toyota ShareLunker Program in ensuring the continued health and growth of largemouth bass populations in Texas waters.

How You Can Get Involved

Looking ahead to the 2024-2025 season, any bass over 8 pounds can be entered into the ShareLunker Program. At the end of the season, the two anglers with the heaviest catches will again be recognized at the banquet by TPWD, and THSBA will provide another set of replica mounts to honor their accomplishments.
